GETTING STARTED

Who can be a telepsychiatrist for my clinic?

Psychiatrists & APRNs: Any psychiatrist (MD/DO) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with a state license in Oklahoma can provide care via telepsychiatry.
APRNs:APRNs practicing telepsychiatry in Oklahoma require a collaborating physician.

How does reimbursement work for telepsychiatry?

Each telepsychiatry session generates two billable codes:

  • The standard CPT codes for outpatient, psychiatric services.
  • An originating site fee known as Q3014. The originating site fee is a Telemedicine Bonus that allows clinics to receive reimbursement for the use of the facility where telehealth services are rendered.

Medicare

Community mental health clinics are eligible for Medicare reimbursement in Oklahoma if they are located in a HPSA (Health Professional Shortage Area). You can check if your address is eligible for Medicare telehealth originating site payment here.

Medicaid

Oklahoma’s Medicaid Program, SoonerCare, reimburses for live video telehealth services when:

  • Provider is contracted with SoonerCare and appropriately licensed
  • The GT modifier is billed

FQHC

FQHC telemedicine providers in Oklahoma must submit their claims using the appropriate encounter code and modifiers. Use the first field for T1015 procedure code with a GF modifier and the second field for E&M code without a modifier.

What tech does my clinic need?

Setting up telepsychiatry at your clinic is simple. The set up will require:
